The ideal candidate will primarily be responsible for business tax compliance, including implementing processes to ensure compliance with state, federal, and international business tax-filing requirements, interfacing with external tax preparers, authorities, or agents, researching tax requirements, and assisting with tax audits.

Job duties

  • Primarily responsible for sales and income tax compliance, research, registration, and report filing
  • Prepare, review, and facilitate preparation of company multistate sales and income tax returns, including oversight of extension filings and quarterly estimated payments
  • Complete tax registration in new states or territories as compliance requirements are met
  • Coordinate outsourced tax preparation work with third-party preparers, and provide tax documentation as requested
  • Maintain company's domestic and foreign tax research documentation, databases, tax workbooks, and permanent tax records
  • Assist with maintenance and updating of internal tax-reporting and tax-calculation systems
  • Research and recommend new tax-reporting methods and software for better efficiency
  • Assist with general business or governmental reporting and compliance as required

Candidate requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • Strong analytical thinking and research abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask to meet tax-filing deadlines
  • Ability to work independently

Preferred candidate requirements

  • Experience with sales tax and state income tax compliance
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel workbooks
  • Experience with various tax software platforms
