Position Overview
Responsibilities include directing and organizing all general accounting activities and the accounting staff to maintain financial records and reports, perform account reconciliations, steer month-end/year-end close processes, conduct internal audits, develop and document business processes and accounting policies, and support budget preparation. This hire will also assist with other accounting related projects as needed and respond to information requests from management and for auditing purposes. A successful candidate should be able to accurately maintain a general ledger and ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) while demonstrating excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Subordinates to include multiple accountants and/or bookkeeper positions.
  • Directs and organizes all general accounting activities and the accounting staff.
  • Develops and implements accounting policies, systems, procedures, and training manuals.
  • Prepares operating data and special reports as required, including interim and year-end financial statements.
  • Maintains the system of accounts and keeps books and records on all transactions and assets.
  • Oversees preparation of journal entries and transactional account reconciliations.
  • Coordinates monthly close processes and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Contributes to the development of annual operating budgets and performance projections.
  • Meets processing and reporting deadlines.
  • Supports company compliance with GAAP.
  • Supervises and trains accounting department staff.
  • Coordinates the preparation of reports to third party entities.
  • Assists members of company management as needed.
  • Provide advice on all matters to the President and Senior Vice President of Finance & Accounting.
  • Conducts other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability and willingness to maintain confidentiality.
  • General knowledge of financial accounting and cost accounting.
  • Understanding of and the ability to adhere to GAAP.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • 5+ years of directly related work experience preferred.
  • CPA license preferred.
