Primary Duties for This Position

Client Services & Advising Support:
• Manage the client intake process for the Brazos Valley Small Business Development Center, located in Bryan, Texas. This includes greeting clients, answering phone calls, and responding to client inquiries via email.
• Provide advising support, especially in areas such as business planning, budgeting, and startup resources.
• May advise clients of the Small Business Development Center on topics related to small business management, as needed.
• Maintain and update client records in CRM systems, ensuring data quality and confidentiality.

Financial Reporting & Administrative Oversight:
• Use Microsoft Excel or similar tools to create and interpret pro-forma financials, budgets, and cash flow projections.
• Maintain office supply inventory, handle mail, and provide general operational support.

Program Coordination & Outreach:
• Coordinate training events and workshops, including logistics, speaker outreach, and attendee engagement. Attend and manage BVSBDC training events.
• Prepare internal and external correspondence, marketing materials, and required training reports.

Digital Marketing & Community Engagement:
• Manage social media platforms to promote workshops, business success stories, and SBDC resources.
• Develop and execute marketing strategies to increase program visibility.
• Utilize digital platforms, including social media and email campaigns, to reach target audiences.
• Create marketing collateral using Canva and other digital tools to support events, newsletters, client highlight stories, and campaigns.
• Assist clients with basic website management using platforms such as WIX, Squarespace, or similar.
• Collaborate with local partners (e.g., Chambers of Commerce, EDCs, university departments) to represent the SBDC and enhance regional outreach.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook.

This position is part of the University of Houston Small Business Development Center (SBDC), funded through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the State of Texas. Continuation of this position is contingent upon ongoing funding from these sources.

Experience will be considered in lieu of education.

MQ: Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
