Executive Director
Profile and Job Description
Mission: Peacock is a nonprofit organization based in the Bryan College Station area that provides housing and life-skill training for single moms and their families. Our mission is to empower single mothers and their children through Christian support and transitional homes, restoring their lives to God’s path.
Everyone has experienced the sensation of being overwhelmed, to the point where even the smallest task seems insurmountable. For a single mom, this drowning sensation can easily become a day-to-day part of life between balancing parenting, providing for her family, and taking care of herself. At Peacock, our goal is to help single mothers out of that deep pool of stress and allow them to focus on their future, one step at a time.
On average, single-mother homes spend over 50% of their income on housing. We alleviate this budgetary constraint by providing single mothers with homes and a chance to focus and plan for the future. Single moms in our program are paired up with mentors, who help them develop a plan and make steps forward to reach healing and self-sustainment. The program teaches necessary life skills, including personal and spiritual development, vocational training, interpersonal skills, community involvement, financial planning and independent living skills. Peacock is the only organization in the BCS area that addresses the needs of single mothers in this way.
