Job Description: Contract Accounting Manager

Location: College Station, TX

Schedule / Working Hours: Full-Time | Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Position Type: Contract

Compensation: $85,000 / year ($40.86 / hour equivalent)

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Statement Management: Oversee end-to-end month-end and year-end closures, general ledger management, and preparation of accurate, high-level financial statements.

  • Operational Accounting: Oversee and execute a broad scope of day-to-day accounting functions—including account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting—with high accuracy.

  • Process & Priority Management: Manage competing deadlines with ease, adapting quickly to high-volume workflows or fast-changing business needs.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner seamlessly with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to maintain financial integrity, support audits, and drive operational efficiency.

Qualifications & Requirements

Required Experience & Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

  • Experience: 4–7+ years of progressive, well-rounded accounting experience.

  • Proven Track Record: Technical accounting foundation with experience in a mid-to-large company OR previous experience as a Controller/Accounting Manager for a smaller firm.

  • Financial Statement Mastery: Deep expertise in financial reporting, general ledger reconciliations, complex reporting, and internal controls.

  • Adaptability & Ownership: Ability to step in, hit the ground running with minimal supervision, and take full ownership of accounting deliverables from day one.

Preferred Certifications (Bonus Points!):

  • Active CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license is a strong plus.
